Does ChatGPT mention your company?
A free check you can run in 20 minutes: the questions to ask ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini, a table to record the answers, and what to do with what you find.
Short answer: ask ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini the questions your buyers ask, each in a new chat, and write down whether your company comes up, what they say about it, and which sources they cite. Run the same questions again every month or two, so you can see what changes.
Step 1: write your questions
Use the words your customers use, not your own slogans. Copy these and replace the brackets:
1. What are the best [category] companies for [use case]?
2. Which [category] tools do [type of customer] use?
3. What is [Company] known for?
4. Is [Company] a good choice for [use case]? What are the alternatives?
5. Compare [Company] with [competitor].
6. Who is [Founder name], and what do they do?
7. Who are the leading experts on [topic]?
8. How does [Company] work, and what does it cost?
9. Where has [Company] been covered in the press?
10. What are the newest companies in [category]?
Step 2: run them
Open a new chat for each question, so earlier answers don’t steer the next one. Use the version your buyers are likely to use, note the date, and note whether the assistant searched the web for its answer.
Step 3: record the answers
One row per question and assistant:
| Question | Assistant | Mentioned? | What it said | Correct? | Sources cited |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| [1] | ChatGPT | [yes / no] | [one line] | [yes / no / partly] | [sites] |
| [1] | Claude | ||||
| [1] | Gemini |
Step 4: read what you found
- You don’t come up at all. The assistants have little about you to find. They answer from what is published about a company: articles in respected publications, your own website, profiles that say the same thing everywhere.
- You come up, but the facts are wrong. Look at the sources it cites and fix the facts there first: your website, your profiles, and any article with an error.
- Competitors come up instead. Open the sources the answer used. They show you which publications and pages the assistants trust for your category.
- You come up for your name, but not for the category. People who already know you can find you. People who don’t yet won’t, until more is published about what you do.

Where press coverage fits
Articles about you in respected publications give ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini something credible to find and cite. No one can promise a mention, but without coverage there is little for them to find. We write and place those articles at a fixed price per placement, agreed upfront, with a 100% refund if one isn’t delivered. How it works. Keep your own facts in one place with a media kit. Questions founders ask
How often should I run the check?
Every month or two, with the same questions, so you can compare one run with the next.
Why do I get different answers each time?
AI assistants vary their answers, and some search the web while others answer from what they learned earlier. That is why you use the same questions, a new chat each time, and look at several runs.
Can press coverage make ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini mention my company?
